"To reassure Iran’s support of Lebanon after the election of the new Lebanese President, Michel Aoun, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will travel to Lebanese capital city of Beirut next week," said Bahram Ghasemi, the Spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Friday.
"Mr. Zarif will have bilateral meetings with the senior officials of Lebanon to renew consultations with discussing the latest developments of the region, Lebanon, and Syria," he noted.
Ad-Diyar, the Lebanese Arabic-language daily newspaper, issued on Friday that Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif will meet with newly elected President Michel Aoun of Lebanon at the Baabda presidential palace to offer Iran’s congratulations and support to the newly elected President Aoun.
Some other informed sources have recounted that Zarif's two-day visit to Beirut will start on Monday.
This is Zarif’s third visit to Lebanon in his term as the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, he said.
“Congratulations to all Lebanese on election of President Aoun,” posted Zarif on his Twitter account late on Monday, “Stability and progress assured when Lebanese themselves decide for Lebanon.”
